Join Nelson Primary for a 45-minute webinar showing you how to embed an Indigenous Perspective when teaching the NSW History Stage 3 unit: Australia as a Nation using Our Land, Our Stories.
In this webinar, Our Land, Our Stories Student Activity Book author Danielle Shaw will walk you through how the series can support you to teach the Stage 3 History Syllabus outcomes of this unit. Bringing her own experience of using this resource in schools, Danielle will demonstrate how the series supports teachers in exploring the following key concepts in the classroom:
- Were First Nations Australians treated in a democratic way in the early 1900s? Did they have their voices heard and rights observed?
- How did Federation and Government legislations affect First Nations peoples?
- How were First Nations Peoples treated in regards to their human rights?
- What were the campaigns of the 1960s and ongoing movements that led to change?
Our Land, Our Stories is a landmark series exploring First Nations peoples, histories and cultures. The series includes rare and historically important photographs, artwork and audio-visual resources from AIATSIS’s vast collection, with many texts and stories written by leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander authors.
